The goal of Novant Health Rehabilitation Center is to improve the patient's functional abilities
and improve their quality of life.
The center provides rehabilitation in both inpatient
and outpatient settings. We are a comprehensive physical rehabilitation system with
a variety of North Carolina locations.
Our inpatient rehabilitation center at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is among the state's best. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
for our Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs-Hospital (Adults), and our Inpatient Rehabilitation
Stroke Specialty Program.
CARF accreditation means that Forsyth Rehabilitation Center:
- Meets rigorous international standards of patient satisfaction and care
- Is focused on helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals
- Is committed to excellence in stroke care
- Constantly works to improve services and stay on the cutting edge of rehab techniques
- Surpasses communication expectations with referring physicians and insurance companies.
Lowes Foods Life Learning Lab
Thanks to a grant from Lowes Foods, Forsyth Medical Center has opened a Life Learning Lab as part of its rehabilitation therapy resources. This simulated grocery store allows patients to improve their cognitive and physical abilities in a safe environment.
Physical and occupational therapists help patients with their physical abilities and daily activities of life, balance and endurance, money-handling, object recognition and problem-solving. Speech therapists help patients with focus on communication, thinking and memory skills; and dietitians use the lab to teach patients healthy eating habits and how to read food labels to identify which foods are best for the patient.
Before the learning lab existed, the therapists took patients to community grocery stories to practice these skills with them. Now they can do their work with patients in a safe, convenient and protected environment. The rehabilitation facility sees close to 1,000 patients a year.
