The stereotactically guided breast biopsy uses computer technology that enables doctors to locate and obtain a sample of the precise center of the area in question. The procedure uses x-rays taken from multiple anglescalled stereo x-rays and a special biopsy needle. This technique is rapidly replacing the more traditional method of surgical biopsy, which requires an incision and removal of tissue
