Pastoral Care
| Living with cancer may be a challenge physically, emotionally and spiritually. Forsyth Regional Cancer Center recognizes the importance of holistic care and provides both inpatient and outpatient pastoral care services to patients and their families. |
Through our pastoral care services, a chaplain is available 24 hours a day to provide emotional and spiritual support to cancer patients, family members and staff, despite religious affiliation. Forsyth Regional Cancer Center strives to create an environment where all patients can use their faith, in conjunction with treatment, to fight cancer.
Research shows a connection between spirituality and good health, and for cancer patients this may mean less fear of death, less discomfort and decreased loneliness. Our Pastoral Care Services offers the following to cancer patients and their families:
- Individual and group prayer
- Grief and bereavement counseling and referral
- Pastoral comfort and support
- Assistance with development of advanced directives and/or living wills
- Telephone consultations with patients' family members
- Communication and follow-up with patient's local pastor and church
- Counseling by a faith representative of the patient's choice
- Weekly worship services
