Skin Cancer Treatment Options
Surgical oncology treatment for skin cancer include: simple excision (cutting the tumor out), amputation and therapeutic lymph node disection.
In systemic chemotherapy, anticancer drugs are injected into the bloodstream and attack cancerous cells throughout the body.
High-intensity rays are used to destroy cancer cells. The radiation can come from outside of the body (external radiation) or from materials placed directly into the cancer site (internal or implanted radiation).
Immunotherapy, often used to treat advanced melanoma patients, helps boost the body's immune system to more effectively attack the cancerous site.
