Lung Surgery
There are different surgery options available to treat lung cancer. The type and stage of an individual's cancer will determine which surgery is best.
Three main types of lung surgery are commonly used to treat lung cancer. Depending on the stage and type of cancer, either portions of the lung will be removed or the entire lung itsef.

Segmental or Wedge Resection

Lobectomy
During a lobectomy, an entire lobe of the lung is removed in order to eliminate the tumor and any cancerous tissue around it.

A pneumonectomy is a operation that removes an entire lung in order to treat the patient's cancer.
