Diagnostic Tests
Testicular Cancer Diagnosis
| While there is no known cause for testicular cancer, the odds of being cured are high. |
Like all cancers, early detection and diagnosis of testicular cancer play an important role in effective treatment. Diagnostic tests for testicular cancer include biopsy, ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) scan.
Testicular Cancer Diagnostic Tools
During a biopsy, physicians remove a portion of the questionable tissue from the testicle(s) and send it to a pathologist for review.
Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to produce images of internal organs. Physicians use these images to detect masses or lumps that may be cancerous.
Computed Tomography scans, or CT Scans, provide more detailed information than standard x-ray technology. Scans of the male reproductive area can help detect cancerous lumps or masses.
