Optimizer
The OPTIMIZER System is designed for treatment of patients with moderate to severe heart failure symptoms. This new device delivers a new technology known as Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM). CCM is a way of treating failing hearts in which small electrical impulses are delivered to the heart. These impulses do not cause the heart to beat (like a pacemaker would). Rather, these signals are intended to change heart cell function for the treatment of heart failure.

Pegasus
This study will look at different pacing modes (how a device is programmed to pace one's heart), and how these modes may assist in one's daily activities and how one is feeling.

STABLE
The purpose of the STABLE study is to assess the precision of a special sensor as an indicator of a patients lung function at different postures and levels of activity over a long term. These sensors are special features of Guidants (Boston Scientific) current pacemakers. Patients enrolled in this study will perform three separate stress tests in a 30 day period and information obtained from the patients pacemaker will be compared to the information obtained from the stress test for reliability.

FREEDOM-SJM
This study will evaluate a new feature in St. Jude Medicals CRT-D devices, QuickOpt. This feature provides the physician with a one button option for fine-tuning a patients pacemaker. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that frequent use of the QuickOpt function during patients device checks will result in improved clinical response over standard of care (i.e. using echocardiograms, programming adjustments).
