Spine Surgery
| Forsyth Medical Center offers comprehensive services for the evaluation and treatment of all types of back and spine problems. |
Many times, spinal problems can be corrected with therapeutic techniques, but if surgery is necessary you can count on the expert surgeons at Forsyth Medical Center to care for you with the most advanced treatments available. This includes innovative fixation (or spinal stabilization) techniques called Kyphoplasty and Vertebraplasty. These procedures use cement to help stabilize spines that have weakened due to fractures or deformities.
We also offer minimally-invasive surgery for disc herniations, spinal reconstruction surgery for patients with spinal deformities or complex injuries, and our surgeons have extensive experience treating patients who have had previous spine surgery.
Caring for each patient is a treatment team that includes our fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other spine care specialists. They use sophisticated diagnostic imaging and specialized neurologic and electrodiagnostic studies to help determine the best treatment plan for your condition.
Because we provide the latest medical and surgical technology, many patients can have minor spine surgery in the morning, be on their feet that same day and return home. When you are ready to leave the hospital, a social worker or discharge planner will help coordinate your post-operative care, which may include HomeCare services. Conditions that can be treated with spine surgery include:
- Cervical & lumbar disc herniation
- Congenital deformities
- Degenerative diseases of the spine
- Kyphosis (humpback)
- Occupational injuries
- Osteoporosis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Scoliosis
- Spinal stenosis
- Spondylolysis
- Spondylolisthesis
- Trauma/fracture to the spine
- Tumors
Whether you are scheduled for back surgery or have a back condition, the rehabilitation professionals at Forsyth Rehabilitation Center can provide excellent care to achieve your maximum potential.
