If your injury requires surgical treatment our orthopaedic experts can provide minimally invasive arthroscopy or laser surgery depending on your specific needs.
Our suite of operating rooms are equipped with the latest technology for inpatient or ambulatory surgery including total joint replacement for knees, hips and shoulders; major back and spine surgery; foot surgery; knee and shoulder arthroscopy and specialized hand surgery.
Surgery
All of the surgeons and anesthesiologists who practice at Forsyth Medical Center are board certified or board eligible and are specialty and/or fellowship trained. Their goal is personalized care to treat your condition and keep you comfortable during and after your surgery. The anesthesiologists eliminate your pain during surgery and help preventing post-operative side effects.
Arthroscopy
This minimally invasive technique can be performed on an outpatient basis, which leads to quicker recovery times and less expense. The surgeon inserts a thin instrument that has a small camera on the end. The camera uses a light and magnifier to allow the surgeon to "look with in the joint." Arthroscopy was first used as a diagnostic tool, but surgeons are now able to repair damaged cartilage or ligaments at the same time without more extensive "open" surgery.
Pain Management
Pain can be a big problem for people with orthopaedic conditions. In many cases your primary care physicians or your orthopaedic doctor can offer a variety of treatment techniques, including medical treatment, training in psychological pain and stress management, physical and occupational therapy, and individual and family counseling.
If you require more advanced pain management methods you can count on the specialists at Forsyth. People experiencing chronic pain have access to a variety of pain management solutions including nerve root blocks and specialized techniques that use heat and high-energy to alleviate the pain.
