Seating Clinic
| The Seating Clinic will help you choose the right wheelchair, scooter or cushion. |
People needing expert advice on what wheelchair, scooter or specialized cushion system is best for them, should attend the Seating Clinic at Whitaker Rehabilitation Center. This clinic is held two to three times each month. A physician prescription for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatment are necessary. Whitaker staff attempt to verify insurance before the first visit.
During the clinic, clients are interviewed and evaluated by a physical therapist and sample wheelchairs and cushions may be tried out. Several vendors are present to verify what is available and assist with recommendations.
Once the equipment recommendation is complete, a letter of recommendation is written and given to the client for physician approval and signature. The client is supplied with information about where the equipment is available for purchase.
Follow-up appointments may be needed to make adjustments and for further training in the equipment use.
