Acute Care
After your surgery, your rehabilitation treatment team works with you to learn and practice ways to walk and move while protecting your surgery and ways to continue your daily self-care activities. Treatment will also include training in use of adaptive equipment, and specific exercises to improve your strength and movement.
Your rehabilitation team may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedic nursing, physicians, social workers, and nutrition services.
Inpatient Treatment
When additional rehabilitation is needed before going home, Whitaker Rehabilitation Center specializes in continued orthopedic care. Your input is vital to designing your rehabilitation program at Whitaker. You will help set goals to make returning to home as easy as possible. Whitaker contains home-like environments where you will practice such activities as walking, climbing steps, personal care, home-making skills, and recreational activities. Whitaker treatment places a priority on managing pain related to your surgery to improve your ability to participate in your treatment and speed your recovery.
Your Whitaker Rehabilitation Center team may include care coordinators, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation nurses, social workers, psychologists, recreational therapists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and registered dieticians.
Outpatient Treatment
Your physician may recommend that you receive continued outpatient therapy after your discharge from the hospital or a Rehabilitation center.
