Lymphedema
Lymphedema is a possible side effect after removal of lymph nodes during surgery.
Whitaker Rehabilitation Center has specially trained therapists who evaluate people who have lymphedema or who are at risk for it. Lymphedema, swelling of an arm or leg, is a possible side effect after removal of lymph nodes during surgery to remove breast tumors. It can also develop for other reasons. Lymphedema is a chronic condition that can be managed through physical or occupational therapy in the clinic and then maintained by the patient.
