Acute Physical and Occupational Therapy
Physical and occupational therapies are provided by physician referral to newly injured workers. These services can be provided at the worksite through a contract with Martinat.
Would having On-site Physical Therapy be appropriate for my company?
  • Yes, if you have one or more of the following qualifications:
    • Usually have two or more employees receiving physical therapy for injuries sustained on the job at any one time
    • Your company loses too much work to injured employees traveling to and from therapy appointments
    • Your company spends too much time trying to get good information from the therapist
    • Your company spends too much time trying to keep up with the therapy schedules of your injured employees
    • Your company is self-insured and is spending too much money on physical therapy bills
Martinat Outpatient Rehabilitation Center can provide:
  • A physical therapist and all necessary equipment on-site at your facility for a minimum of two hours at a time. This will provide acute physical therapy services under physician referral for your injured employees
  • If there are no injured employees to treat, the physical therapist will begin job demands analysis of the various jobs at your company in order to write functional job descriptions. These job descriptions provide information on the physical requirements of jobs so that accurate return to work or restricted duty decisions can be made.
  • A physical therapist to consult with your safety manager or company nurse on restricted duty assignments
  • A physical therapist to observe individuals on the job and coach them on proper body mechanics
  • A physical therapist to provide educational sessions for employees on body mechanics, maintaining a healthy back or other similar topics
Your company will need to provide:
  • A physical space with a minimum of two functional electrical wall outlets, heating and air conditioning, and 40 square feet without any furniture except three non-rolling chairs
  • A contact person who can work with the therapist to prioritize the activities of the therapist when he/she is not treating injured employees
  • A guarantee of two or more hours of on-site work for the therapist per day on-site
