Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. We treat the second largest number of stroke patients in the state of North Carolina.
Raising Awareness
Forsyth Medical Center is committed to raising awareness and educating people about the warning signs and risk factors of stroke. We also want to help people to understand how crucial time is when experiencing signs and symptoms of a stroke to decrease the time between when you experience your first symptoms and your arrival for treatment at Forsyth. The time interval may determine the treatment options available to you.
Stroke is a medical emergency. From the first sign of symptoms, call 9-1-1.
Within three hours of the onset of a stroke, we can provide intravenous thrombolytic administration. From three to six hours following onset, depending on the nature of the stroke, many patients can receive intra-arterial thrombolytic administration.
