Support
Stroke survivors, families and friends of stroke survivors, as well as healthcare professionals, are encouraged to attend Forsyth's Stroke Support Group meetings. All meetings are free of charge.

The impact of stroke on patients and their loved ones can be traumatic and alienating. In addition to physical recovery following stroke, survivors may need emotional or social support in understanding and coping with stroke-related effects on physical and social functioning.

Forsyth Medical Center's stroke support group was established to meet this need, while offering stroke survivors the opportunity to connect with others in a warm, inspiring atmosphere.

By meeting regularly, support group members help one another confront and overcome common challenges by sharing experiences and encouraging one another. Forsyth's stroke support group allows stroke survivors and their caregivers to:
  • Make friends and socialize
  • Gain realistic feedback
  • Learn about community resources
  • Obtain educational information
  • Share their personal experiences
  • Re-discover meaning in life
We are pleased to offer this important service to help stroke survivors and their families achieve emotional recovery in a supportive environment. For an up-to-date schedule of meeting times, visit our online calendar of events.
Forsyth offers Stroke Education Sessions for patients and their families.
