Anal Warts
Anal warts are a common condition that affects the area around the anus.
Anal warts appear as tiny blemishes and can grow to a size larger than a pea. Typically they do not cause any pain or discomfort leaving patients unaware they are there. They do need to be removed because they will grow larger and new ones continue to develop. If they aren't treated for a long time, anal warts can become cancerous.
Treatment Options
Medication applied directly to surface of warts
This is a simple method, but should be carried out carefully by a physician to prevent injury to normal skin and surrounding warts.
Electrical cautery
This is typically performed on an outpatient basis, but a form of anesthesia is required. The results are immediate.
Surgical removal
This option is typically performed on an outpatient basis and requires anesthesia. The results are immediate. Laser surgery may also be used but has no advantage over other treatments. These
