Ulcerative Colitis
| Ulcerative colitis is an inflammation of the lining of the colon. |
Symptoms include:
- rectal bleeding
- diarrhea
- abdominal cramps
- weight loss
- fever
Treatment
Ulcerative colitits is treated initially with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. These medications are typically prescribed on a long-term basis. When serious complications exist with ulcerative colitis, surgical treatment is necessary.
