Extern and Intern Programs
| Forsyth Medical Center offers several extern and intern programs for nursing students and graduates. |
Nurse Explorer Program
- Program designed for Certified Nurse Assistants who are listed with DFS and enrolled in a RN preparation program
- Assists the student in gaining valuable clinical experience while performing in the CNA role
- Summer program lasting approximately 6 - 8 weeks
Student Nurse Apprentice Program (SNAP)
- Program designed for students who have completed their junior year of RN training and have current CNA II Certification
- Opportunity to gain clinical experience and skills by working with a Registered Nurse Preceptor
- Summer program lasting approximately 8 - 10 weeks
Nurse Internship Program
- Program designed for graduate nurses who successfully complete state boards and are entering their first year of employment as an RN or LPN
- Assists in the transition from the school to work environment by means of didactic and guided clinical experiences
