Winston-Salem, NC - Forsyth Medical Center has been awarded a three-year accreditation in ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Forsyth was accredited in several ultrasound categories including general, peripheral vascular, cerebrovascular, abdominal vascular and deep abdominal vascular.

"This accreditation from the leading national organization for radiology signals the ongoing commitment of our physicians and clinical staff to provide imaging care for residents of Forsyth and surrounding counties according to the highest standards," says Paul Hammes, executive director of imaging and neurosciences.

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to healthcare facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation by a team of board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The team assesses the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility's equipment, and reports its findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation for a decision.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services.
