Winston-Salem, NC - Forsyth Medical Center, Thomasville Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital have been ranked as among the top facilities in the nation for providing excellent care in the 25th annual survey of patients conducted by Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a nationally known healthcare research company.
The PRC measurement of care is especially important because it surveys patients using Novant Health services and allows each facility to include the annual ratings as part of their continuing process to improve patient care.
Forsyth Medical Center received Five Star rankings for the quality of its Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery, Radiation Oncology and imaging services performed at Salem MRI. Medical Park Hospital received a Five Star ranking for its Overall Quality of Care. Additionally, both FMC and Thomasville Medical Center received a Four Star ranking for their overall quality for inpatient care.
To achieve Five Star ranking, a hospital must achieve a score in the top 10 percent of PRC's national database, based on the percentage of patients who rated their hospital as "Excellent" for overall quality of care. To achieve a Four Star ranking, a hospital must achieve a score in the top 20 percent for the same criteria.
PRC also honors top performing hospitals for excellence in specific components of hospital operations as rated by employees and medical staff.
Thomasville Medical Center was rated a Top Performer by employees for teamwork between departments, teamwork within departments and executive leadership. Medical Park Hospital was rated a Top Performer by employees as a place to work as well as for patient care, teamwork between departments, teamwork within departments, executive leadership and excellence of immediate supervisors. Forsyth Medical Center was rated a Top Performer by its medical staff for its anesthesia department services. To achieve Top Performer ranking, a hospital or unit must be rated as "Excellent" by 100 percent of those participating in the survey.
"We are pleased to award these rankings to Forsyth, Thomasville and Medical Park, as they are among an elite group of hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide who put customer service first," said Joe M. Inguanzo, Ph.D., president and CEO of PRC. PRC, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, compiles independent patient, physician and employee satisfaction data via confidential phone interviews and compares hospital performance across the nation. Hospitals receiving the top ratings among all of the hospitals participating in the survey are recognized for their high levels of patient satisfaction.
