WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Forsyth Medical Center will close its main entrance surface parking lots for visitor parking on Tuesday, June 20th at 6 a.m. when it opens its new 1,400 space five-level parking deck. Patient admitting and discharge as well as valet will still be located at the front entrance of the medical center. Handicapped parking will still be permitted in the existing surface lot near the main entrance. It will be accessible from both the Silas Creek and Hawthorne Road entrances. The most convenient access to the medical centers emergency department will continue to be from the Silas Creek entrance.
FMC will provide shuttle service 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the new parking deck and the handicapped parking area.
"While you can still get to the new parking deck from the Silas Creek entrance, visitors will find it most convenient to enter the medical center campus from Hawthorne Road as it will be the closest entrance to the new parking deck," says Tony Potter, FMC direct of public safety "For admitting, discharge and valet parking, the medical center's entrance from Silas Creek Parkway will be most convenient."
The new $28 million parking lot covers approximately 2.5 acres and will eventually connect to the new North Tower that will house the Sara Lee Center for Womens Health, The Forsyth Cardiac & Vascular Center and an additional 114 medical and surgical care beds. The new parking deck is the first phase of more than $132 million north tower expansion to be completed over the next 18 months.
