Village of Clemmons, N.C. - Medical Park Hospital (MPH), an affiliate of Forsyth Medical Center (FMC), announced today it has filed for state approval to build a new $96 million, 50-bed acute care hospital in the Village of Clemmons. The proposed hospital, called Medical Park Hospital - Clemmons, will be a second campus for Medical Park Hospital and will be located near Interstate 40 and Harper Road. Hospital officials also said they plan to modernize Medical Park Hospitals current campus on Hawthorne Road as an outpatient surgery facility that can accommodate overnight stays for patients in private rooms.
Medical Park Hospital - Clemmons will incorporate the latest technology for inpatient care, diagnostics, and inpatient and outpatient surgery including:
- Forty-six (46) medical-surgical beds
- A four-bed intensive care unit
- Surgical services, including five operating rooms
- An emergency department with 12 treatment rooms
- Imaging services such as CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, X-ray, and mobile MRI
- Laboratory, pathology, respiratory therapy and pharmacy services
Greg Beier, president of Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital, says the new hospital is designed to serve Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital's patients in western Forsyth County and Davie County, including the communities of Clemmons, Lewisville, Advance, Bermuda Run, Hillsdale and Mocksville.
"The decision to build a new hospital in Clemmons comes after nearly two years of planning on what to do with the existing Medical Park Hospital campus, which is in need of significant modernization," says Beier. "When you take into consideration that in 2006 we had nearly 175,000 patient visits throughout our system from residents in western Forsyth County and Davie County, locating a hospital in Clemmons is a very logical decision. It allows us to provide our current patients better access to care conveniently located in communities where they live."
"Medical Park Hospital is among the leading hospitals in the nation for patient satisfaction with a culture that is a model for all community hospitals one we very much want to preserve," Beier says. "We are confident that we can preserve this culture in a brand new facility in Clemmons."
The greater Clemmons area, including Clemmons, Lewisville and Davie County, is one of the fastest growing areas in the Triad. More than 60% of the patients in this area choose medical care from Forsyth Medical Center- and Medical Park Hospital-affiliated facilities and physicians. Additionally, Novant Medical Group Forsyth, an affiliate of Forsyth Medical Center, has four physician practices with 20 providers in western Forsyth County and Davie County.
"For more than 36 years, the physicians and staff at Medical Park Hospital have consistently provided high-quality care and unparalleled customer service to our patients," says Tim Shelton, administrator at Medical Park Hospital. "This plan allows us to provide the high level of care we are known for in a new modern hospital."Medical Park Hospital - Clemmons is projected to open in July 2011.
