Visiting - And More
Visiting patients in the hospitals lifts the spirits of both patient and visitor alike.
Visiting Hours
The main hospital doors at 3333 Silas Creek Parkway are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Should you need to visit a patient after 9 p.m., you will need to check in with the Public Safety Officer stationed at Forsyth's main lobby entrance. The officer will ask you to provide the name of the patient you wish to visit, and will call to the nursing unit and speak to the patient's nurse. The patient's nurse will check with the patient and get approval for your visitation. Once your visit is approved, you may then proceed to the patient's room.
Parking
Valet parking service is available in front of the main medical center entrance for outpatients and inpatients on the day of admission. There is no charge to the patient for this service.
Visitor parking is available for visitors in the visitor parking lot located in front of the medical center. The charge for parking is based on the length of time in the lot. If, as a visitor, you will be leaving and returning to the medical center in the same day, it is more economical to purchase a day pass. Please request the pass from the parking lot attendant as you leave the lot for the first time. Special arrangements are also in place for visitors of patients who remain in the hospital for an extended stay. Ask the parking lot attendant or contact Patient Relations at (336) 718-2005 to explain the process for extended stay visitor parking.
Maps
We have maps of the Forsyth Medical Center campus, as well as maps of each floor of the medical center. These maps are located in the main lobby on the first floor and in the Emergency Department.
Security Escort
A security escort is available 24 hours a day to accompany visitors to their vehicles within the visitor's parking lot of the medical center.
Waiting Areas
There are designated waiting ares on many of our floors. If you are in surgery, family and friends will be directed to a convenient waiting area. This will be the area where your surgeon will look for family members to give updates during or following your surgery.
Condition Reports
Any personal information about a patient's diagnosis and treatment must come from the doctor. This medical information is only available to the patient or designated members of the immediate family. To further protect our patients' confidentialty and privacy, information regarding patient's condition will not be provided via telephone unless special arrangements are made with the patient's nurse.
Patient Information
You may call the patient directly by dialing (336) 718-plus the patient's room number. If you do not know the room number, call patient information at (336) 718-2000 and ask for the patient by full name. Patients in our critical care areas do not have phones in the room. Operators can transfer you to the waiting room, where you may speak with family or friends that are present. Due to patient confidentiality, operators do not report on the conditions of patients. They may, however, transfer calls to nurse's stations.
