Clay Adams was known for “always walking on the sunny side of the street,” says Dr. Robert Dillard, medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Inspired by Clay’s dedication and professionalism, Dr. Dillard and his wife Laura established the T. Clay Adams Memorial Fund to provide professional enhancement scholarships to neonatal respiratory therapists in memory of Clay, who epitomized the high standard of care for our most fragile patients in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Clay Adams was supervisor of respiratory care services in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center.  He had been employed continuously by Forsyth Medical Center for more than 30 years and is remembered by everyone whom he touched as a committed health professional, trusted confidant and consummate gentleman.

In memory of T. Clay Adams, this Fund was launched in 2007 to offer an annual educational stipend to a respiratory therapist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit deemed by his/her peers to represent those values that were exemplified in the professional life of Clay Adams.  The first scholarship was awarded in October 2008 in honor of Clay’s birthday and respiratory therapist month.
