Forsyth Rehabilitation Center provides a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation.

We help people regain independence lost to disease, injury, or surgery. We have been a leader in providing rehabilitation since 1971.

Every patient at Forsyth Rehab Center receives a customized plan of treatment after evaluation. In addition to rehabilitation nurses and therapists, the staff includes physiatrists (physicians trained in rehab medicine), psychologists, social workers, registered dieticians and others.  Patients also benefit from a Care Coordinator who meets regularly with the patient and family to review progress towards goals, coordinates the activities of the treatment team and provides an opportunity for the patient/family to give input into goal setting.

Treatment plans include education of how to care for the affected limb and training to regain independent mobility. Caregivers will instruct you in new methods to walk, get in and out of bed, perform personal grooming and train you to use a wheelchair.

Back Injury Rehabilitation

Whether you have arthritis, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, back pain, fractures or other injuries, our team can provide excellent care to achieve your maximum potential.

Brain Injury Program

Treats individuals rehabilitating from open and closed traumatic brain injury (TBI), anoxic or hypoxic encephalopathy, and aneurysms, as well as coma-level and coma-emerging patients. Therapy works to improve mobility, balance, thinking, problem-solving skills, swallowing, speech and other issues that could affect transition back into the community.

Cognitive Retraining

Cognitive retraining is a therapeutic strategy that seeks to improve or restore a person's skills in the areas of paying attention, remembering, organizing, reasoning and understanding, problem-solving, decision making, and higher level cognitive abilities. Cognitive retraining is one aspect of cognitive rehabilitation, a comprehensive approach to restoring such skills after brain injury or other disability.

Driving Rehabilitation Program

The Driving Rehabilitation Program strives to promote return to independence with driving and community mobility, one person at a time. Helps people affected by injury, illness or disability return to driving through evaluation and training.

Exercise Therapy

Individual consultations with an exercise physiologist. Patients will be assisted with developing or enhancing a safe, effective exercise program.

Hearing Aids and Treatment

We offer a comprehensive selection of the most current digital hearing aids and accessories to meet the needs of adults, as well as children, with hearing loss.  We use state-of-the-art equipment to produce accurate results in hearing loss evaluation and for precise fitting of hearing devices. A physician order is needed for some services.

Hearing Screening

Tests to determine if any hearing loss has occurred.

Joint Replacement

Surgeons perform joint replacement surgeries for knees, hips and shoulders. Following joint replacement surgery, most patients are able to resume previous daily activities with vastly improved comfort levels and ease of movement.

Surface replacement surgery is sometimes recommended for younger, more physically active patients. Other alternatives to total joint replacement include Osteotomy, Arthroplasty and Arthrodesis.

Low Vision Clinic

The Low Vision Clinic is a program to evaluate and treat people with a visual impairment whose corrected vision provides some usable vision, but for whom poor vision still interferes with performance of activities of daily living.

Lymphedema Clinic

Individuals who have had lymph nodes removed or injured during their cancer treatment may be at risk for lymphedema, a condition characterized by abnormal swelling of one or more areas of the body. The Lymphedema Clinic offers a variety of treatments to help decrease this swelling.

Occupational and Hand Therapy

Occupational and hand therapy assists patients with independent performance of daily living activities such as cooking, dressing, bathing, as well as exercises to strengthen hands and arms.

Orthopaedic Care

Treatment of disorders or deformities of the spine and joints.

Pain Management and Treatment

Pain management and treatment options address the whole person, not just the site of the pain. Options may include: occupational therapy, physical therapy, pain psychology, biofeedback, integrated mind-body pain program, medication management, social work, patient-controlled analgesia, epidural injections, procedural treatments, and/or implantable technologies.

Prosthetic Clinic

A multidisciplinary staff consisting of a rehabilitation doctor, a prosthetist, and sometimes a physical therapist, evaluate people with amputations who want to be fitted for a prosthesis.

Seating Clinic

The Seating Clinic will help you choose the right wheelchair, scooter or cushion.

Spinal Cord Disorders Treatment

Treatment of spinal cord disorders caused by injuries, infections, a blocked blood supply, and/or compression by a fractured bone or a tumor.

Stroke Rehabilitation

The stroke rehabilitation program helps stroke survivors return to their lives, employment and families by providing a continuum of services, from comprehensive therapy to preparation for home or work re-entry.

Stroke/TIA Treatment

Treatment of stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA). A TIA, or "mini-stroke," is often a warning sign of a future stroke. Although there is no cure for stroke, advanced medical and surgical treatments are now available, giving many stroke victims hope for optimal recovery. Treatment is most effective when started immediately.
