Ambulatory Blood Pressure MonitoringAmbulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is a method of taking regular blood pressure readings, usually over a 24-hour period, as patients conduct their normal activities. A special, automatic blood pressure monitor is used, and patients are asked to keep a diary or log of their activities during the day. Annual PhysicalsA "preventative care" physician visit during which standard health tests are performed, depending on gender and age. Tests may include things such as blood pressure, a breast and/or pelvic exam, prostate exam, cholesterol screening, vaccines or booster shots. AudiometryA hearing test usually performed in a soundproof room; the person wears earphones and tones are presented to each ear, one at a time.
Contraceptive ManagementProvides information regarding the various forms of contraception and can assist in determining which method is best for you. Department of Transportation (DOT) Exams/PhysicalsMedical examinations for individuals who drive commercial motor vehicles. Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is one of the simplest and fastest procedures used to evaluate the heart. Electrodes (small, plastic patches) are placed at certain locations on the chest, arms and legs. When the electrodes are connected to an ECG machine by lead wires, the electrical activity of the heart is measured, interpreted and printed out for the physician's information and further interpretation. FAA Flight PhysicalsRequired flight physicals for all pilots, from the general aviation student pilot to the commercial airline pilot. Geriatric CareAddresses the complex needs of older people, focusing on health promotion and the prevention and treatment of disease and disability in the elderly. Gynecological Care and ExamsThe medical specialty dealing with health of the female reproductive system. Minor Surgical ProceduresMinor surgical procedures are those that can be done in the physician's office with local anesthesia. Pulmonary Function TestA test designed to measure how well the lungs are working. Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) gauge how the lungs are carrying out their tasks -- of expanding and contracting (when a person inhales and exhales) and of exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide efficiently between the air (or other gases) within the lungs and the blood. Throat CulturesA throat culture is a test to detect and identify a bacterial, fungal, or viral infection in the throat.
UrinalysisA group of physical and chemical tests done on a sample of urine to check for various disorders, including those of the kidneys and urinary tract. Vision ScreeningAn eye examination which can determine vision function as well as screen for potential problems or diseases.
