Ambulatory Blood Pressure MonitoringAmbulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is a method of taking regular blood pressure readings, usually over a 24-hour period, as patients conduct their normal activities. A special, automatic blood pressure monitor is used, and patients are asked to keep a diary or log of their activities during the day. Annual PhysicalsA "preventative care" physician visit during which standard health tests are performed, depending on gender and age. Tests may include things such as blood pressure, a breast and/or pelvic exam, prostate exam, cholesterol screening, vaccines or booster shots. Blood TestsBlood tests can reveal numerous diseases and conditions. Bone Density Testing (DEXA Scan)A bone density test, or DEXA Scan, is a noninvasive, evaluation procedure that uses x-rays to measure bone mass or the weight of the skeleton. The amount of bone in the skeleton determines how strong it is. Bone densitometry is often used to measure bone mass in the spine, hips and arms, as these are the areas most likely to fracture when bone mass is low. Cardiolyte Stress TestingA cardiolyte stress test helps your doctor determine if areas of the heart are not receiving enough blood. The test is done in two parts, allowing the doctor to compare how much blood flows throughout the heart muscle during stress (exercise performed on the treadmill) and at rest. Contraceptive ManagementProvides information regarding the various forms of contraception and can assist in determining which method is best for you. Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is one of the simplest and fastest procedures used to evaluate the heart. Electrodes (small, plastic patches) are placed at certain locations on the chest, arms and legs. When the electrodes are connected to an ECG machine by lead wires, the electrical activity of the heart is measured, interpreted and printed out for the physician's information and further interpretation. FAA Flight PhysicalsRequired flight physicals for all pilots, from the general aviation student pilot to the commercial airline pilot. Flexible SigmoidoscopyFlexible sigmoidoscopy uses a short, lighted tube to examine the sigmoid colon and rectum. Flu ShotsFlu shots are available to help protect you from the influenza virus. Geriatric CareAddresses the complex needs of older people, focusing on health promotion and the prevention and treatment of disease and disability in the elderly. Gynecological Care and ExamsThe medical specialty dealing with health of the female reproductive system. Hearing ScreeningTests to determine if any hearing loss has occurred. Holter MonitoringThe Holter monitor is a portable device for continuously monitoring the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more. Its extended recording period is sometimes useful for observing occasional cardiac arrhythmias that would be difficult to identify in a shorter period of time. Minor Surgical ProceduresMinor surgical procedures are those that can be done in the physician's office with local anesthesia. Preventive CareMedical and/or dental services aimed at early detection and intervention. SpirometrySpirometry is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring lung function, specifically the measurement of the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Spirometry is an important tool in assessing conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and COPD.
