Winston-Salem, NC - Forsyth Medical Center recently announced that Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Professional Wayne Tilley has received the 2nd Annual "Honoring Dedication to the Community" Award for Excellence in EMS. The recipient of the annual award is selected by EMS professionals. Mr. Tilley has been a paramedic since 1974, and has been with the Stokes County EMS Service since it was established.
"This award is presented by the hospital, however the recipient is essentially chosen by the EMS professionals themselves," says Joy Bottoms, Trauma Coordinator and EMS Liaison at Forsyth Medical Center Emergency Department. "We asked medics, nurses, and those affiliated with EMS to help identify those EMTs, EMT-Intermediates, and EMT Paramedics whom they believe personify the ideal qualities of an EMS Professional. These qualities include showing a commitment to the profession, expertise in the role, and a desire to share knowledge with others."
Mr. Tilley recently retired after 30 years of service, but continues to work as an intermediate for the Stokes County EMS and is also a member of the Lawsonville Volunteer Fire Department. He lives in Lawsonville with his wife Anna.
