Novant Health Board of Trustees Elects Evans as Chair

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Novant Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system serving the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, has announced the election of Dr. Lisa Evans as chair of the Board of Trustees.

 Evans takes over for John R. Belk, whose term as Novant board chairman expired.  Belk will continue to serve on the health system's board of directors.   

 Evans is a radiation oncologist and for the past 15 years has served as medical director of the radiation oncology program for the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  She provides clinical care for cancer patients and has been active with the National Cancer Institute in cancer control studies, symptom management clinical trials and radiation oncology quality assurance. Evans has served on the Novant Health Board of Trustees since 2004. 

  In addition, the Novant Board elected Michael Baughan as vice chair and Peggy Valentine as secretary/treasurer.  Baughan is president & COO of B/E Aerospace, Inc. which is corporately based in Florida with Winston-Salem facilities.  Valentine is dean of the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University.
