Winston-Salem, N.C. – For patients who have survived a stroke, serious illness, orthopaedic injury or amputation, every milestone in the recovery process – from regaining speech and walking unassisted to being able to tie shoes and drive again – can mean so much. On Tuesday, Sept. 21, physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff at Forsyth Medical Center’s Whitaker Rehabilitation Center honored their patients’ accomplishments with the annual Whitaker Rehabilitation Center Reunion.  More than 250 people attended the reception, which recognized all current and former patients who have received treatment at Whitaker Rehabilitation Center during the last year. Among those in attendance were the finalists for Whitaker’s Case of the Year Award, which spotlights patients who have overcome tremendous hurdles to achieve rehabilitation success.  The award winner will be announced on Thursday, Sept. 23.
