Joanne Allen Named President of Kernersville Medical Center, Opening March 2011

Kernersville, NC- Novant Health is pleased to announce that Joanne Allen, RN, BSN, MHA has accepted the opportunity to become president of Kernersville Medical Center. Kernersville Medical Center is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in March 2011. Joanne's role and responsibilities have expanded considerably since being named Kernersville Medical Center's chief operating officer and chief nursing officer in April. Today she is providing strong leadership within Novant Health and within the Kernersville community in assisting Dr. Charles Record, medical director of Kernersville Medical Center, to plan for the operational and staffing needs of the new medical center.

In her 18 years at Forsyth Medical Center, Joanne has held a variety of roles, from head critical care nurse to director of nursing for cardiac and vascular services. Her accomplishments have included leading the development of several outpatient programs, including cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation and the lipid clinic.

Her most recent work has focused on securing the services and levels of care that will be needed to support the success of the hospital opening in the Kernersville area. For the first time, residents of eastern Forsyth County and western Guilford County will have dedicated local hospital services, including a fully staffed 24/7 emergency department, operating rooms, an intensive care unit and 46 patient beds.

Joanne is effectively guiding Kernersville Medical Center's direction to ensure that patients will receive the right level of care in the appropriate setting. She has been invited to join Kernersville's Economic Development committee and has begun active participation in the Chamber of Commerce.
