Winston-Salem, N.C.- Medical Park Hospital in Winston-Salem is proud to be named among the top performing hospitals in The Joint Commission's 2011 annual report on quality and safety. Medical Park Hospital is one of the 405 hospitals nationwide, and one of just three hospitals in the Triad, to be named a Top Performer. Two other Novant Health hospitals, Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury and Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville, were also recognized.

Top Performers were identified as having achieved exemplary performance in using evidence-based care processes, which are closely linked to positive patient outcomes. The Joint Commission looked at 22 accountability measures, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

"Hospitals that commit themselves to accreditation-related quality improvement efforts, such as the use of evidence-based treatments, create better outcomes for patients." The Top Performers program is designed to inspire better performance on accountability measures and to serve as an incentive for all hospitals to improve.
Medical Park Hospital is a not-for-profit surgical specialty hospital with 22 inpatient beds and 28 observation beds. Approximately 12,000 surgical cases are performed here each year in the specialties of general, urology, orthopedic, ENT, oncology, gynecology, ophthalmology, plastic, oral, neurology and pain management. Medical Park Hospital consistently ranks at the top of state and national standards for surgical quality and patient satisfaction.
