Surgical Oncology

We provide outpatient treatments such as biopsies, radiation therapy or surgery at Forsyth Medical Center's Outpatient Center, Forsyth Medical Center Hawthorne Outpatient Surgery and the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center.

Radiation Oncology

Our radiation oncology department treats about 1,200 patients a year, delivering both external beam and intracavitary radiation. We feature an array of state-of-the-art equipment, including three linear accelerators, CT simulator with x-ray/fluoroscopic capabilities, high dose rate brachytherapy unit, prostate implant system, stereotactic radiosurgery, MammoSite and endovascular implant system.

Recent computer upgrades have enabled us to calculate and deliver the most effective treatment possible for better clinical outcomes utilizing intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). The benefit of such a therapy is that it spares healthy tissue around the intended radiated site.

Acute Palliative Care Unit

In cases where aggressive treatment is no longer appropriate, our acute palliative care unit can help patients and families prepare for the end of life with dignity. This dedicated, nine-bed unit focuses on making the quality of life for terminally ill patients as comfortable as possible and assists family members in this time of transition.

Oncology patients can count on a large interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and therapists to provide support throughout their treatment.

Winston-Salem Health Care

Winston-Salem Health Care also offers oncology services which are affiliated with the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center.
