A small wire-like sensor that measures the glucose levels is inserted under the skin and is held in place by an adhesive. The sensors measure glucose levels continuously, in real time. There are sensors that work with insulin pumps and sensors for people who do not wear insulin pumps. This is a new and exciting way to see  your blood sugar levels continuosly around the clock. Sensors can help you see the effects of food, exercise, and your medication and help prevent high and low blood sugars. They can warn you of changes and trends in your blood sugar levels so you and your physician can make decisions about your care.
