Symptoms of Diverticular Disease:

Abdominal pain
Diarrhea

Treatment Options


For Diverticulosis:
Increasing the amount of fiber in the diet
Restriction of certain foods

For Diverticulitis:
Oral antibiotics
Dietary restrictions
Stool softeners


Surgical treatment takes place for recurring episodes or attacks or when medication isn't effective. When surgery is the option, complete recovery can typically be expected.
