At Forsyth Medical Center we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to improve the quality of life for patients who suffer from debilitating joint diseases, disorders and injuries. We have an outstanding medical staff of board-certified orthopaedic surgeons.
Anterior Approach Hip Replacement
Here at the Forsyth Regional Orthopedic center we use the minimally invasive approach to hip and knee surgery. With this surgery you can expect a reduced recovery time as well as less pain. Unlike the traditional approach this surgery requires an incision at the front of the hip and eliminates the restriction of the tissue and muscles in the posterior area. The most common procedure to reduce pain and restore mobility is joint replacement for the hip, knee, shoulder and elbow. When your joint is replaced with a prosthesis you may be able to resume daily activities with greater comfort and ease of movement. When you are ready to leave the hospital, a case manager will help coordinate your post-operative care, which may include home health care services.
The orthopaedic surgeons at Forsyth Medical Center enjoy an extraordinarily high success rate for joint replacements. This success includes a large number of complex and challenging "revision" surgeries for patients whose initial prosthesis has loosened or weakened. Treatment of the failed joint replacement is challenging and requires specialized equipment and expertise.
For some younger, more physically active patients the surgeon may perform a surface replacement rather than a total joint replacement. Other alternatives to joint replacement include Osteotomy, Arthroplasty and Arthrodesis. After surgical treatment a social worker or discharge planner will help coordinate your post-operative care, which may include HomeCare services.
Don't let a problem hip, knee or shoulder compromise your lifestyle. Let us help you return to your active, independent life again. Conditions that can be treated with joint replacement include:
- Arthritis - Rheumatoid, Gout or Osteoarthritis
- Arthritis from fractures
- Avascular Necrosis
- Hip fractures
- Infectious joint disease
- Tumors
