Radiological Technology

Our radiology services use the most advanced imaging technology available today.  Our expert team includes radiology physicians, technologists, sonographers, nurses and physician extenders.  Our services are available at various Forsyth Medical Center affiliated facilities and at several imaging centers throughout the area.

We offer the latest in radiology technology from routine diagnostic imaging to advanced interventional procedures and treatments including:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) generates images of the body without using radiation. Instead, an MRI uses a strong magnet and radio waves to create an image. There are no known harmful effects from the magnetic field or exposure to radio waves associated with creating MRI images.  Learn more

We offer several types of MRI including:

  • Anesthesia-assisted sedation cases
  • Cardiac MRI
  • Short Bore MRI (helps with claustrophobia)
  • Spectroscopy
  • Breast Imaging

Computed Tomography Scanning (CT Scan)

Computerized Tomography (CT or CAT Scan) is an X-ray technique that allows us to see organs that cannot be seen with conventional X-rays.  Learn more

We use CT scans for various procedures including:

  • Diagnostic procedures
  • Therapeutic procedures
  • Coronary artery screening

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a typically painless medical test that helps your doctor to diagnose and treat certain medical conditions. Unlike X-rays which use radiation, ultrasound exams use reflected sound waves to examine areas of the body.  Learn more

Ultrasounds may be used in a:

  • Transcranial study
  • Venous study
  • Arterial Doppler study

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is a branch of radiology in which images of your body's anatomy and function are produced from the detection of energy emitted from a radioactive substance given to the patient.  The radioactive substance is administered either intravenously or by mouth.  Learn more

Forsyth Medical Center's radiology department uses this type of radiology in various procedures including:

  • Diagnostic procedures
  • Therapeutic procedures

Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic radiology is the process of creating images of the body, its organs, and other internal structures with external radiation.  Learn more

Specific types of diagnostic radiology includes:

  • Myelography
  • Venography
  • Gastrointestinal procedures

Specialized Procedures

Other specialized radiology procedures performed at Forsyth Medical Center include:

  • Embolization
  • Carotid stent placements
  • Aneurysm coiling
