Gynecologists were among the first to use laparoscopic surgical techniques many years ago. Today, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery has advanced to the point where many gynecologic disorders can be treated laparoscopically.

The cause of gynecologic symptoms may be a mild infection, which can be treated. If the symptoms are ignored, a serious medical condition may develop.

Gynecologic Conditions:

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is one of the most common, non-cancerous gynecologic conditions. The endometrium is the tissue that lines the uterus. When this tissue grows somewhere else in the body it is called endometriosis. These abnormal growths may cause mild to severe pelvic pain, especially during menstruation. Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus that occur in about 25 percent of all women. Although fibroids are not cancerous, they can cause problems due to their size, number, or location. Laparoscopic surgical removal of fibroids is performed through several small incisions instead of one larger abdominal incision.  Learn More

Pelvic Pain

Pelvic is a common complaint among women, which may or may not be a symptom of disease. Its nature and intensity may vary and its cause is often difficult to determine. Pelvic pain may have multiple causes, including:

  • Inflammation or direct irritation of nerves
  • Muscular contractions or cramps
  • Psychogenic factors which can cause or aggravate pain

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)

STDs are infectious diseases transmitted through sexual contact. The best way to avoid getting an STD is abstinence. However, if you are currently sexually active or decide to become sexually active, there are many ways you can help reduce your risk of developing a sexually transmitted disease.
