Breast Center Accreditation

The Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center at Forsyth Medical Center has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program of the American Collegeof Surgeons. This prestigious award reflects our commitment for outstanding breast cancer care and is given to centers who demonstrate clinical excellence.

2009 Team Approaches in Quality Improvement Award

Forsyth Medical Center and Novant Health received the 2009 Team Approaches in Quality Improvement Award from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM). Forsyth Medical Center was recognized for its multidisciplinary team approach to improve medication safety for its patients.

2009 Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

Forsyth Medical Center’s (FMC) stroke program is the first in North Carolina and the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate (Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Washington, D.C.) to receive national recognition from the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) for its diagnosis and treatment of stroke. The award recognizes FMC for its sustained high performance in treating stroke patients during the past 12 months.

2008 Ernest A. Codman Award

Novant Health and its staff were named a national winner of the 2008 Ernest A. Codman Award from The Joint Commission. The prestigious Codman Award is presented to organizations that demonstrate exemplary performance to achieve healthcare quality improvement. The health system was honored for its successful efforts to improve hand hygiene compliance and for reducing the spread of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections by 53 percent, which means that 249 patients from 2005 through 2008 did not suffer the medical complications of MRSA. Learn More

2008 Get with the Guidelines Silver Award

Get With the Guidelines is a hospital-based quality improvement program designed by the American Stroke Association and the American Heart Association to enhance the treatment and quality of care for patients. Forsyth Medical Center is honored to have received the Silver Achievement Award which indicates a hospital that has completed 12 consecutive months of participation at 85% of higher in adherence to all performance measures.

VHA Award

Forsyth Medical Center, along with our other network hospital, Presbyterian Hospital, were recognized in 2008 as the only two U.S. hospitals among all of the VHA's Joint Commission reporting organizations to earn Superior System Performance honors.  They received the same award again in 2009. Both hospitals achieved high-level performance in all four quality measure categories: acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care improvement.

First Nationally Certified Heart Failure Program in the Carolinas

The Stroke and Neurovascular Center at Forsyth Medical Center has received certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Nationally Ranked Integrated Health System

Novant Health have is ranked 12th nationally among the 2009 Top 100  Healthcare Networks, according to an analysis by the SDI heath informatics company. The Top 100 is a listing of the nation's leading integrated healthcare networks. The ranking is based on eight critical success factors used to evaluate health systems throughout the country.

Magnet Recognition

American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized the nursing program at Forsyth Medical Center for its excellence and quality in nursing care. FMC is one of 96 hospitals in the country that has received this honor, referred to as "Magnet Recognition." Only 5 percent of hospitals nationwide are recognized as Magnet hospitals.
