National Stroke Care Certification - first in NC

Forsyth Medical Center was the first hospital in the state of North Carolina to receive national Stroke Care Certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The designation is awarded to facilities that demonstrate excellence in healthcare quality and meet the strict national standards set by JCAHO and the American Stroke Association.

Nationally Accredited Stroke Rehab Program

In 2007, Whitaker Rehabilitation Center received a three-year national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital Stroke Specialty Program and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program-Hospital Adult. Whitaker Rehabilitation is affiliated with and located on the campus of Forsyth Medical Center. CARF Accreditation means Whitaker Rehabilitation meets rigorous international standards of patient satisfaction and is committed to excellence in stroke care.
